Happy Father's day to the bestest Daddio!
Church - lunch - Slip-n-slide - short rest of the eyeballs - then Dad and the girls did a project, they made a squirrel feeder - it had a chair, table and it's painted pink! the squirrel's will have to get reservations to eat this corn!

Savannah

On, the road again...............

Rachel, Christopher, Christopher Jr, and Sean
playing er, horse or pig in the pool -
main objective, don't hit the little one.

Rachel on Shamu...

Nana H and the little girls...

eeh ghad! Rachel turned 13!
My bad - did not get a picture of her birthday feast:
fresh crabs from the back of the house, fresh shrimp off the boat, corn and red potatoes
not too shabby.
So shy

Tybee Beach - water was awesome!!! perfect temperature, some rough surf for body surfing - which Hope took part in this year. Rach and I are heading into deeper waters

cool beach

our girls... tan as their Indian Uncles after one afternoon in the sun.

ok, this is what the water looked like our first day there ...
the filter broke while they were working in Florida - but in 2 days it was back to sparkly blue
no more Kermit green.
fishing and crabbing

Emma caught her first fish with G-daddy Dave!
She didn't drop the rod and reeled in it herself. Grandaddy was very proud as well as the rest of the Shockley clan.

Dave cleaning the fish for the audience
Emma was explaining to them that we have to kill fish and animals for food, it 's wasn't as if was just for sport - guess she was paying attention in school this year, I was impressed.
Hope was grossed out. Christopher was asking when he could eat it.
um, this is the same said fish, about 20 minutes later - it doesn't get any fresher than that!

this was Rachel's plate after consuming - chicken curry, salad and babaganouch
(eggplant humus) - we thought it was nice artwork

emma
had a big week - caught her first fish - and went under water - then finally figured it out and swam across the pool!!!!!!!!! no floaties - no nothing - and thought it was much easier to swim across the pool under water rather than above.
It really started when she put the mask on and went totally under water - she came up and said,"Hey, I can see everyone's feet!!" - then she did it again and came up " hey, there are toys and stuff on the bottom of the pool".. she had no idea there was a whole world to be discovered under there.

Rachel taking a break from the pool - to remenise with Bella and Edward
I would of myself as well but we only brought one book - an error on our part!
this is all of the camera man

The croaker was almost 3 lbs.....!

3 great things about being home....

There is nothing like coming home, and within 10 minutes of walking in the door it occured to me
that :

1.) I get to sleep in my own bed tonite

2.) I stepped out onto the back porch and saw our first Hummingbird at our feeder

3.) I after checking the garden out back and then by the garage and was able to pick and eat some peas.........

it's the little things in life.

AES Awards Day

Emma's teacher made sure we knew to come to the Awards presentation for the 1st grade class. Emma achieved her AR ( accelerated reading ) goal every 9 weeks and she was also the only one in her class to reach the 50 point club. She read 107 books in her first grade year at school. She was also - second for the whole first grade, the most books read was 115. If she hadn't gotten sick in March she would of whipped butt i'm sure!
That afternoon was an ice cream party -- of course, I made sure I was able to volunteer and help... mmmm, ice cream!

Saturday at the park... and elsewhere

Saturday we headed to Blacksburg to see the last of Rachel's softball games, of course we don't have any pictures of the game, but we did get a lot on video and her making a great play !!! Her team won - and Rachel did a great job all over the field and got a great hit too! Reminds of someone else who's playing ball now.... hmmmmm......................

um, doesn't look like softball...
Memaw and Grandaddy came to see the game too!
It was the only game so far in 3 years that we've been too that it hasn't been 40 degrees with gale force wind and rain with lightening... really, this spot is dooomed!

Recharging the batteries after a long day...

ditto

texting Rachel.... so much for memaw's 250 free text's a month.

the girls felt like doing an iCarly ( if you don't know what that is, don't worry - you're not missing anything.... )
ps. keep in mind this is the end of the day too - so Hope's feet have cause to look that dirty!

crazies...

random feet that were attacked with markers....

Hope and G-ma Rachel

not too shabby

Emma's had a good end of the year for First Grade, she won a spelling bee last week - she won on the word 'quit' - and a bunch of her buddies got knocked out on 'itch' .... figured that deserved a trip to the DQ!
Today for "school" all the kids that met their AR goal ( accelerated reading goal and corresponding test's on the computer -- good thing i missed that as a child ) got to go to the town's movie theater and see 'Night at the Museum'! Now that I would of liked as a kid, we had one of the old theaters with a balcony and everything....................
//
Tomorrow is field day - Weds is awards ceremony and an ice cream party - Thurs is the last day with 2 hr early dismiss and movies............
