Tomato Drill

Ok, the girls get home, I play 20 questions to find out what they did during the day. I was asking Emma about gym class when she said, oh yeah, we had a lock down drill during gym. Heavy sigh from me, so what's the deal in gym? there is an office behind the stage where they all can sit and lock the door till they get the all clear from Principal Cox.
This prompted me to ask Hope how her drill went. Oh yeah, we had that today too! I got to hide in the kitchen area ( so apparently it was not a scary thing ) - we sit down and stay away from the windows and only open the door to Mr. Cox and no one else, even if they say they are the police, it doesn't count. They have to have a school badge on! Words fail me.
THEN she said that yesterday they had a tomato drill..... , I stood there doing my best, I knew they had a fire drill last week, and they practiced how to get off the back of the school bus too, but Tomato? She says, yeah, we go in the hall, away from the windows and get down in a ball and hide our faces...... Tornado drill......... didn't know the school did those.
I think I may need to break bad after Open House/PTA tonite and have a big drink. PTA meeting and my kids are prepared for all sorts of terrorist acts - i hear Grand Marnier calling my name.
