The Bathroom
we didn't seal him up though - was tempting!
new medicine cabinet and lights
***
Ok, so i said, i'd like to paint the bathroom when the weather get better... well, David loves a good project so saturday morning we were off to Lowe's. It was kind of like those books, 'If you give a pig a pancake' - if we're going to paint we might at well change out the vanity - and if we change out the vanity we should get rid of that monster medicine cabinet - and those lights are hideous and this set was on sale ... at least I was able to put the brakes on before we bought more tile, there was no way we could do all that in a weekend.
we got the vanity out - to see robin egg blue wall underneath - and as per usual in our house, a half-assed access panel to the tub area - got the medicine cabinet down - got lights off -- whoops, now we have electricity and water shut off -- new light fixture, check! -- painting... going along smoothly - except for some reason i didn't think the bathroom was that big - no way a quart was going to cut it -- and just before it's time to go back to Lowes for more paint, we realise the new pedestal sink - was only the sink,no pedestal.... the model in the store was all one piece with a price tag, no way - they wouldn't do that... and by the way - on the box for the sink, it said fix all standard faucets... all 8 inch faucets, ours was at the house was 4 inches. SOOOOO, back for a gallon of paint, a new 8 inch faucet and unfortunatly a base for the sink... so much for a $200 bathroom remodel.
back home, we have electricty... no water... david starts on the sink... let's just say - it looks nice but it still isn't done and we need to Skype Grandaddy tomorrow for a few pointers. david has been going thru jobs left and right here at the house and we've done bathroom work but this sink just doesn't seem right and ... yeah, shocking, we've made 2 more trips to lowes, they couldn't figure it out either....
so we did get the new medicine chest up - actually found ONE stud to drill into - but we feel confidnet it will hold.... and maybe tomorrow we can use the sink.
oh yeah, 2 more points for our WONDERFUL house, got the vanity out - and there is no sub-floor underneath, just crappy ancient tile... ( another trip to lowes for plywood ) and the access panel was put in half assed, glued actually so when david was moving stuff around it just fell out... at least we still had sheet rock from fixing the leaking ceiling... i think the van would make it to Lowes even without a driver at this point!
The Nature Channel in Abingdon...
ok, i know you are all going to think i'm sick for not only taking pictures but posting Charlie's dance with his "friend" the mouse... but it was rather amusing to watch him play with his food.
